Study circle: Programming 2 special

Is your code tangled and your brain stuck? Are you struggling to make progress working alone at home? The study group for programming courses organized by Luuppi and TiTe, is a place where you can ask for advice, study together, or just enjoy the learning atmosphere. Our encouraging peer tutors will be present throughout the study group sessions, and you can ask them (or other study group attendees) for help with exercises or topics you're having trouble with. This week, there will be a project night focused on the assignments for the Programming 2 course, specifically the first project assignment.. There will be some brain-energizing snacks available. Please remember that our voluntary study group peer tutors do not replace course teaching assistants, so in more challenging cases, don't forget to use course resources. Please note that the study group focuses on support for programming courses. For support in mathematics and statistics courses, we recommend to join Laskutupa, which you can find https://moodle.tuni.fi/course/view.php?id=772&section=3#tabs-tree-start . Peer tutoring Peer tutoring is available as a COMP.CS.070 course, approximately 12 hours per credit, for a maximum of 3 credits. Being a tutor does not require any specific skills and does not commit you to being there any more than you want. Experience in peer coaching can also be seen as an advantage when looking for a job. Please contact study circle officials if you are interested. Stuck with SISU? In the study circle, the Education Policy Representative is also present to help with the study plan and SISU. Questions? Fuksisits part 2

WHAT SITSIS? Sitsis are an academic table party where people drink, sing and eat. At Luuppi's sits we traditionally have a dress code, which is not mandatory - the most important thing is to have fun! The sits have their own rules, which the toasts, i.e. the song leaders and ceremony masters of the sits explain at the beginning of the celebration. Being late is punishable, so be there in time or notify us of the delay with good reasons in advance! Note that the sitsis will be organized in Finnish. If you don’t speak Finnish, you are still welcome to attend but bring a friend to translate for you and ask for them to sit near you in seating requests. The theme of these sitsis is music festivals!!! Come dressed in your best festival outfit and songbook in hand. It is recommended to come dressed up since there will be a costume contest with a prize. The sitsis will be held on Thursday, September 12th and Friday September 20th at Pii-Klubi, Yliopistonkatu 58b, 33100 Tampere for 80 people per sitsis. Registration for the sitsis will open first on September 2nd, 2024 at 5pm for freshmen and one tutor per group. Registration is only at the office. You can only register for one of the sitsis. Registration: Monday 2.9. at 17:00 at Pii-club Tue 3.9. - Thu 5.9. at the office during office hours Please note! If you cannot queue by yourself you can ask for someone else to enroll for you. Please be aware that everyone can enroll one person at a time. So you would have to queue again for another ticket. If there's seats left, the rest will be available for registration at: September 4th at 12PM for the rest of the tutors. If there is enough space left, the registration will be opened to all members on September 5th. The price of the sitsis is 11€ and in addition to songs, food, drinks and an overall patch it includes program numbers, fun competitions, performances and possibly nice penalties. When registering for the event, you can choose whether you want an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage option. There will be 3 mild + 2 strong drinks per participant, but you are welcome to bring your own. Where is the afterparty?!? The location of the afterparty will be revealed at the sitsis! If you have any questions you can ask tg @Joonatansm https://t.me/Joonatansm or joonatan.sydanmetsa@luuppi.fi

Interview: Tähtiluuppilainen Santeri Virtanen

Tähtiluuppilainen is a feature series in LuuppiSanomat ("The Luuppi News"), where we get to know a member of Luuppi who is honored with the title of Tähtiluuppilainen ("Star Luuppian"). The series has been published since at least 2010. Drag The Tähtiluuppilainen introduces themselves by answering a set of questions and has the privilege of choosing the next interviewee, who will become the next Tähtiluuppilainen. The last two questions are selected by the previous Tähtiluuppilainen, as each Tähtiluuppilainen creates two new questions. With each round, the first two questions are removed, so the questions keep evolving. Drag This time we interviewed Santeri Virtanen who was challenged by previous Tähtiluuppilainen, Joonas Toimela. The interview was made in finnish and has been translated into english by the editorial team of LuuppiSanomat.
