Would you like to be involved in influencing and participating in Luuppi's activities?

The application process for staff and division positions opens on December 16th 2025 at 12:00 PM and runs until January 5th 2026 11:59 PM. Luuppi's board will select the staff and divisions during a board meeting on January 7th 2026 starting at 5:00 PM. Applicants are encouraged to attend this meeting.

What is division?

The roles and responsibilities of division members differ from those of staff members in that division members do not have an obligation to be involved in maintaining other activities of Luuppi, such as office hours or upkeep, nor do they have primary responsibility for their respective team's operations. However, as a division member, you will have many opportunities to contribute within your own team. Tasks vary greatly depending on the division.

The staff duties unfortunately require fluent finnish skills therefore the information about them is only in the finnish version of this article. Regardless, there is a high need to diversify Luuppi’s activities and have english speaking members in the divisions.

After this round of application process there will be a separate application process for the sustainable division.

Which divisions can I apply to?

For the upcoming year, the following divisions will be formed, the number of available spots is listed after the name of the division:

  • Events division (7)
  • Facilities division (4-5)
  • WWW/IT division (3-4)
  • Communications division (2)
  • LuuppiMagazine (name in progress) division (7)

The applications process for the sustainable development division will be held after the board has chosen the officials and staff for 2026.

During autumn of 2026 there will be an additional application period for some of the divisions.

Events division

Responsible Person: Jesse Piekiäinen, TG: @jessepie

The event team is one of the most visible groups to Luuppi's members. Whether it's Luuppi's pre-party events, sits, forest hikes, or Christmas parties, the event team is often involved. As a member of the event team, you'll help organize these and many other events.

Next year, the event team will consist of the board's event manager, event staff, and the event division. Initially, there will be five open positions for event staff. The event division will be formed based on the number of applicants, and the board will make the final decision. It is possible to apply for the division for either just the spring semester or the entire year. A separate call for the fall event division will also be organized.

A key part of the event team's work is to create and implement different events, some of which are traditional events in Luuppi's activity plan, while new ones can be proposed and carried out. As a team member, you may also have the chance to organize cultural and external relations events according to your interests. Your role will involve event planning, organizing, supervision, teamwork, and attending team meetings. The team meetings will always offer at least remote participation, and they may be held entirely remotely depending on the team's preferences.

Division members are not expected to take primary responsibility for events but traditionally focus on supporting the main organizers. If a division member is particularly interested in organizing smaller events, such as a game tournament, they can be given responsibility for that specific event. All team members are expected to be responsible and reliable. Other positions can be held alongside event tasks, but it is not necessary to take on another position, especially since working in the event sector can sometimes require a significant amount of free time. If event organizing interests you but your life situation doesn't allow for a time-consuming role, the event division is a good alternative.

Communications division

Responsible Person: Emi Myllymäki, TG: @emintsuikka

The communications division is a newer division where you can be involved in all aspects of Luuppi's communications. This division is responsible for creating graphics for overall patches and websites, taking photos, managing social media, or maintaining Luuppi's TikTok account. Since this is a newer division, you will have the freedom to shape its activities to your liking. Initiative and creativity are encouraged for coming up with new content for the communication channels. You may choose to focus on a specific task, and the level of responsibility is lower than that of similar staff members.

LuuppiMagazine (name still on progress) division

Responsible Person: Emi Myllymäki, TG: @emintsuikka

The editorial division is responsible for producing LuuppiSanomat under the leadership of the editor-in-chief. This division writes, edits, and designs LuuppiSanomat, the regularly published newspaper, and encourages members to write their own articles. All types of articles are welcome, and you can write about your own areas of interest.

WWW/IT division

Responsible Person: Juliusz Kotelba, TG: @juliuszkotelba

The WWW/IT team is looking for a fearless person who can navigate the jungle of foreign code, ideally someone with a Linux-oriented mindset. If you prefer to avoid command-line interfaces, this might not be the right role, as SSH connections will become familiar when working on both the old and new websites. The team will initially consist of the WWW/IT manager, two staff members, and the division.

Essential terms related to Luuppi’s WWW/IT maintenance include:

  • Github
  • Docker
  • Azure
  • Strapi
  • Next.js
  • Node.js
  • Mailman
  • Postfix

You don’t need to know all of these right away, but it helps if you're familiar with any of these technologies. It's recommended to have your own laptop, as coding can also be done remotely. Motivation and a hands-on attitude are key!

Facilities division

Responsible Person: Xixi Sarkkinen, TG: @x1x1LOL

The facilities team will initially consist of the board’s manager and five staff members, including two office managers, as well as the division.

Members of the facilities team will be involved in various tasks related to the upkeep and development of Pii-Klubi. These tasks include remodeling, marketing, communication with renters, key handovers, logistics, and billing. Don’t worry if this seems like a lot or if you're only interested in certain tasks the team can organize itself as needed. Make sure to mention your specific areas of interest in your application.

Office managers will be responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness and order of the Hervanta and Pii-Klubi offices, as well as managing lost and found items. Each staff member is responsible for office order, so the manager doesn’t need to handle everything on their own. Office managers will also manage key handovers and other general facilities tasks.

Sustainable development division

There is no person in charge yet, if you have questions you can ask Emi Myllymäki, TG: @emintsuikka who has been in this division previously.

Please note that the application for this division is after the board meeting on the 7th of January.

The Sustainable Development division, as its name suggests, works on issues related to sustainability at Luuppi. Its tasks include innovating and improving Luuppi's current operations to align with more sustainable practices, such as creating more eco-friendly and long-lasting activities. The division will meet to discuss and brainstorm improvements for the organization’s current operations, addressing issues in areas such as finances, facilities, recycling, management, communications, and more. Previous projects have included compiling documentation and organizing recycling at Pii-Klubi. In your application, explain how you would like to contribute to Luuppi's sustainable development in the coming year.
