We’re here for you, so please don’t struggle alone. Now, onto the important stuff! Our team has once again gathered some key updates and reminders for the beginning of fourth period, so take a moment to read through them! :-)

News from the education meetings

In the mathematics and statistical data-analysis planning group, teachers discussed upcoming changes to basic and joint studies for next year, official details will be published later. The new thesis evaluation criteria have also been decided and will be processed by the faculty council in March.

The computer science planning group talked about the weak employment situation for the summer, and there may be additional independent online courses offered for the summer.

In the ITC meeting, discussions focused on challenges in developing open university pathways, such as workload and resource needs.

MTT & TIE -coffee

At the February MTT & TIE -coffee Luuppi’s representatives and board members introduced themselves and their roles for the year, followed by introductions from the teachers. There was some discussion about the study group (Opintopiiri) which have not been organized this year.

More Updates

Course offerings for the academic year 2026–2027 are currently being prepared in education planning groups and faculty councils. Implementations will appear in Sisu at the end of April, with detailed schedules and room information following at the end of May. It’s a good idea to start planning next year’s studies early!

The degree programme head for computer science will change during the spring. The current programme head is Hannu-Matti Järvinen.

Education specialists have started monitoring study progress. Check whether you’ve received a message from them and reply if needed!

Social policy news

Nyyti ry’s Student Mental Health Week will take place from March 9–15. The theme of the campaign this year is faith in the future: "The idea of the theme is to support students’ faith in the future and to address issues that weaken it. We live in a time where uncertainty and worry about the future overshadow students’ everyday lives. That is why we want to highlight the power of hope, meaning and community – factors that strengthen belief in a better tomorrow."

Remember to pay the YTHS health care fee by March 15! The fee is 35,35 € per semester and helps fund YTHS (student health) services. You can pay it in OmaKela. Not sure if you’ve already paid it? You can check your payments in OmaKela under: Shortcuts -> Student Health Care Fee -> Payments.
